Spotlight on Santa Eulalia
Apr 26 Spotlight on Santa Eulalia
The third largest town on Ibiza, Santa Eulalia is a thriving hub which is an all year round living and working destination, one of the main reasons many people choose this area when searching for their perfect Ibiza villa. A more family friendly resort than some of the other towns which are famed for their party scene, Santa Eulalia is popular with families, couples and those seeking all the attractions of the island, without the madding crowds. Here is our guide of some of the best places to wine, dine and, sunseek and shop. Beaches
The main promenade of the centre of the town itself boasts a long stretch of white sandy beach, manned by lifeguards in the summer months, and the walkway is packed full of pretty cafes, bars and shops, perfect places to stop for a spot of shade, a little refreshment and some retail therapy after a hard day on the beach! If you head further along the coastline, you will come across one of our absolute favourite beaches Cala Pada, a wonderful bay with crystal clear shallow water which is absolutely ideal for those with young children. This beach is also home to Ria´s bar, an excellent Chiringuito where they serve what are arguably the best mojitos in town! Follow the coast in the other direction and you will reach the pretty village of Cala Llonga, which also has an abundance of welcoming restaurants and shops, and also caters very much for families.
The coastline around Santa Eulalia is a wonderful blend of soft beaches and mountainous landscapes, where you will find hidden away some of the most breathtaking villas in Ibiza, secluded and private, yet still close too all of the amenities the town has to offer. Beachclubs
If luxurious dining beachside is your thing, then you are in luck. Santa Eulalia is home to some of the most bohemian and exclusive beachbars and clubs in Ibiza. One of these is Babylon Beach, a rustic yet refined and utterly charming bar and restaurant which is famed for its fresh and organic menu. On the shores of Nui Blau beach you can dine in style at Pura Vida, a stylish and welcoming beachclub who also host weekly shows from flamenco legend Paco Fernandez. For the ultimate indulgence, follow the signs to the viewpoint of Sol dén Serra, close to the village of Cala Llonga, where you will discover the cliffside delights of Amante beachclub, one of the most exclusive and elegant fine dining destinations in Ibiza. The bay of Sol dén Serra is also surrounded by some fabulous Ibiza real estate and the views over this pretty cove simply have to be seen to be believed. Attractions
Should you yearn to learn a little more about Ibiza´s rich and varied history, then Santa Eulalia has a lot to offer. Take a trip up to the historic church, named Puig den Missa, which looks proudly over the town, and marvel at the beautiful architecture which dates back to the 16th century. Take the small signposted walking track from the bottom of the church and you will reach the Ethnographic Museum of Ibiza, a small but fascinating cultural centre, housed in a traditional Ibiza finca ´house´, where you can take a trip back in time to an Ibiza gone by, with a rare collection of artefacts, paintings and other interesting articles. Shopping
Santa Eulalia has a wealth of shops, selling everything from clothes, jewellery, homewares and of course souvenirs. Many of these shops, as well as bars and restaurants remain open all year round, which is one of the reasons so many people are attracted here when they begin their search for Ibiza real estate. If you love a bargain, head to the famous hippy market of Es Canar which takes place each Wednesday between April and October and is a colourful riot of stalls selling everything you could possibly imagine, all with a lovely bohemian, Ibizan vibe.
Aside from all the wonderful shops, bars and restaurants, Santa Eulalia has a real community spirit, with a wonderful collection of nationalities, including British, Dutch, German and many more whom have chosen to make their home here in this thriving and delightful town. It also benefits from a good selection of schools, so is a perfect choice for those with children. So, when you are searching for your ideal Ibiza villa, this is most certainly a very good place to start.
